The application period for short-term employment allowance is extended due to force majeure arising from Covid-19 pandemic. With the Presidential Decision dated 22.12.2020 and numbered 3316 (“Decision no. 3316”), it is decided to extend the application period for short-term employment allowance in accordance with the additional article 2 and the provisional article 23 of the Unemployment Insurance Law no. 4447 (“Unemployment Insurance Law”). Along with the Decision no. 3316 published in the Official Gazette dated 23.12.2020 and numbered 31343 (“Official Gazette dated 23.12.2020”), which entered into force simultaneously, the employers may apply to the short-term employment allowance until 31.01.2021.
In parallel to extension of the application period, the period of implementation of the short-term employment allowance is extended as well. With the Presidential Decision dated 22.12.2020 and numbered 3317 (“Decision no. 3317”) published in the Official Gazette dated 23.12.2020, it is decided, in accordance with the provisional article 23 of the Unemployment Insurance Law, to extend the period of implementation until 28.02.2021 for the employers who apply to the short-term employment allowance until (including) 31.12.2020 due to force majeure arising from Covid-19 pandemic.
